To make wet felted things requires water, heat and agitation.
I made these bowls using a wet-felting technique where you lay wool roving over a flexible circular plastic form in multiple layers, wetting and agitating each layer with a piece of bubble wrap. In a later stage you agitate the whole thing even further by rolling it back and forth with a sushi mat.
It’s kind of tedious, doing all the agitation parts, but in the end you remove the plastic form, cut a hole in it, and you shape the vessel using soap, hot water and any shaping tools you want. It’s kind of like clay at that point, and that’s a lot of fun.
I wove a piece of colored twine through the top of the white bowl to make it more interesting.
